Steegmans refused to sign an absurd anti-doping contract with his team Katusha, and was then fired by the team.

In the event of a positive doping test, a rider would have to pay five times his annual salary as a fine!!!!

BBB ensured that Steegmans could continue racing in the Belgian fairground racing circuit.
